¿What is FOTOVIN?

FOTOVIN is a digital image archive of Spanish wineries, vineyards, their bottles and labels. The pictures may be used with authorization for promotional and journalistic uses.

The site is organized based on the different wineries. Each winery controls the content of their image archive plus the password, which allows one to access and to download their images.

¿How does
FOTOVIN work?

FOTOVIN works as an image archive organized according to the different wineries.

Each winery has a homepage where one has access to a map of the available files.

¿What kind of services does FOTOVIN offer?

FOTOVIN offers the images that the wineries want to distribute in a simple and easy fashion for immediate and free use.

FOTOVIN maintains the metadata (documentation) for each picture.

FOTOVIN prevents the risk of loss and damage to the original pictures.

FOTOVIN provides the wineries with legal coverage by using electronic contracts.

FOTOVIN severely reduces the possibilities of fraud and unauthorized use of the image files.

FOTOVIN warrants impeccable preservation, maintenance and prompt updating of the image files.

FOTOVIN controls and tracks the downloads and then reports back to the individual wineries.

FOTOVIN makes the process of dissemination of images much simpler, plus it saves time and money for all involved parties.

FOTOVIN responds to the increasing need of wineries to supply the media with quality information in a fast and efficient manner.

FOTOVIN is also a bilingual site (English and Spanish), which makes the use of its services available for many countries.

¿Who can use FOTOVIN files?

Users that have been authorized by the wineries.

In order to access and download their image files winery will release their own passwords. Thus the access policies are exclusively administered by each winery.

Although each winery may establish a private contract, the License Contract is the reference contract.

¿What are the requirements for using FOTOVIN files?

Although each winery may establish their own requirements, the FOTOVIN requirements are the following:

1. Each caption must include the winery’s name..

2. Any alteration of these images is strictly prohibited.

3. The images cannot be used in reference to anything other than the winery itself.

4. All pictures must include the photographer’s name followed by FOTOVIN (eg.: “Pepe Franco / FOTOVIN”). If the original photographs are not signed by a photographer, then the image files should include just the image bank “FOTOVIN”. In any case it must be clear that the pictures are being used courtesy of the winery.

5. The image files can only be for promotional or journalistic uses.

6. A special authorization is needed if the image files are going to be used in the following manner:

- Web site design and multimedia presentations.
- Publicity campaigns.
- Book covers and editorial illustration.
- Software, music, DVD, CD, cassette and VCR wrappers.
- Calendars, postcards, cards, posters.
- Billboards.
- Products for sale that are illustrated with the photography.

¿Is it really and totally free of charges?

Yes, FOTOVIN is entirely financed by the wineries involved, thus it is totally free for its users.

¿Whay is it mandatory to be resgistered?

Registering is a requirement because it gives precise information about the activity on this web site. This information is important in order to maintain the service quality and to be able to inform each specific winery about how their image archive is being used. ¿Who is behind FOTOVIN?

FOTOVIN is an incorporated company whose designer and manager is Pepe Franco, a renowned photographer in the world of wine. He conceived and developed the idea and is currently directing the project.

¿How should I use FOTOVIN´s site?

1º. Register

After the mandatory registration, obtain your User’s name and Password. Now you can access the localization, visualization and download systems. There are two passwords, one for the general website and a second f each winery.

2º. Location

Enter the system through the Wineries List page, where there are links to the different wineries both by alphabetical order and by "Denominación de Origen".

Each Winery Homepage page has a map of downloadable files, usually organized in the following manner:

- winery pictures: cellars, vineyards, portraits, etc

- bottles and labels

- company logotypes and information

- links

3º. Visualization

On the PHOTOGRAPHS page, the files are viewed as thumbnails. When you click on a thumbnail, a window pops up with the blown up picture and detailed information about it.

In the BOTTLES and LABELS page, the size of the thumbnail is optimum for viewing. Plus, the information attached to each picture is displayed.

4º. Download

PHOTOGRAPHS: just click on download photograph in the pop up window, this begins the downloading.

BOTTLES and LABELS: clicking on the thumbnail starts the download.

Digital files are offered in three different formats and resolutions (see chart below).

After you click on the chosen file, the License Contract will pop up. You have to accept the terms of the Contract in order to download the file.
